BID Fort William is now inviting nominations for our first Board of Directors—and we’re looking for local business owners and representatives like you to get involved.
If you’re passionate about the future of Fort William’s town centre, this is your opportunity to help lead meaningful projects, represent your sector, and make a difference in the place we all work and live.
Why join the Board?
The BID (Business Improvement District) is a business-led initiative designed to bring additional investment, activity, and positive change to Fort William. Our projects focus on town centre improvements, local events, promoting independent businesses, and supporting a clean, welcoming environment.
As a Director, you’ll play a key role in:
- Shaping and approving how the BID budget is used
- Helping prioritise projects that benefit businesses like yours
- Representing your business sector in strategic decisions
- Making connections with other local business leaders
- It’s a chance to be at the table when decisions are made—rather than just reacting to them. You don’t need specialist experience—just a willingness to contribute and a desire to see Fort William thrive.
Who can apply?
- To join the Board, you must be:
- A levy-paying business (or nominated by one) within the Fort William BID area
- In a position of authority within your business (such as owner, manager, or authorised representative)
- Committed to attending quarterly meetings and contributing to BID activities
- Not disqualified from acting as a company director under the Companies Act
Whether you run a shop, a service business, a cafe, or a tourism-based enterprise—your perspective is valuable.
We’re particularly keen to see representation from across a range of sectors, so the board reflects the diversity of Fort William’s business community.
What’s the time commitment?
We know you’re busy running a business—so we want the role to be flexible and manageable. The Board will meet around six times a year, with occasional involvement in working groups or project input depending on your interest and availability.
There’s no financial commitment, and it’s a voluntary position—but the reward is being directly involved in the decisions that shape the future of Fort William.
How to get involved
You can nominate yourself or someone else from a levy-paying business. To apply, simply fill out the Nomination Form and provide a short personal statement outlining your interest and experience.
The deadline for nominations is Friday 28th June 2025.
If you care about Fort William’s future and want to see real change for the better, we’d love to hear from you. Join us in building something positive – for Fort William, with Fort William.
