Highland Cinema Nominated for BIFA “Cinema of the Year” – Let’s Get Voting!

We’re delighted to share that Highland Cinema, our cherished community venue in Lochaber, has entered the brand-new Cinema of the Year award, introduced this year by the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA). Launched in partnership with Kia, the award puts cinema lovers in the driving seat. Over 130 venues across the UK are in contention, and public voting runs until 22 September, with the shortlist of five nominees to be announced on 3 November.

Since reopening, Highland Cinema has become much more than a venue. It is a cultural hub that brings people together through blockbuster premieres, independent films, live events and community talks. The cinema also supports local enterprise by featuring adverts from nearby businesses, keeping the local economy at the heart of its activity. Supporting Highland Cinema in this award not only recognises its unique contribution to our community, it also shines a national spotlight on Fort William.

From a BID perspective, this nomination benefits more than just the cinema. It strengthens Fort William’s reputation as a vibrant destination and attracts both locals and visitors into the town centre. Each visit has a positive impact, whether it is a coffee before the film, a meal afterwards or a stroll along the High Street. When Highland Cinema thrives, our businesses thrive too.

If you value what Highland Cinema brings to Fort William, please take a moment to cast your vote. It is quick, it is easy, and it helps champion both the heart of our community and the wider town centre.
